Zajac Rick Gray

Founder With 30+ Years of Financial Experience

With over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, Richard considers himself a “true planner” who still enjoys working closely with clients locally and nationally every day. He takes the time to understand clients’ backgrounds and guide them on the best plans for their future financial endeavors.

Before working in the financial planning area, Richard worked in a cubicle in corporate America: “I was a tiny cog in a big machine and realized that was not what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.” With an interest in helping people and the necessary skills and credentials (CPA and MBA), he knew he wanted to work more closely with people to make a real difference in their lives. Once he decided to “make the move,” he spent several years getting ready to “hit the road running” in his new career. “This career move was not about me being lucky. I readied myself, and when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped. I PLANNED to do this. Isn’t that what planners do?”

With a self-proclaimed love of historical knowledge, Richard was thrilled to make his own mark on history when he started Zajac Group as a local, family-owned firm over twenty years ago. Today, he continues the legacy with great pride in helping the team maintain that culture by steering the ship and the day-to-day operations of the business. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, Certified Public Accountant, CPA, and a Personal Financial Specialist, PFS, Richard helps people find financial independence through various integrated strategies and the support provided at Zajac Group.

As the first and only person in his family to go to college, he attended Henry Ford Community College, Lawrence Technological University, and received his MBA in finance from Drexel University. Richard is licensed to practice in multiple states, including DE, FL, GA, MD, MI. NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, and VA.

Richard is actively involved in the community in many non-public ways, offering charitable donations to educational institutions, food banks, medical research, and more. He also serves several clients at near-pro-bono levels who would not otherwise have access to professional advice.

Richard is a true family man and has been happily married with four adult children, all of whom are also married. He has 13 grandchildren between the ages of one and 16. With two of his sons working with him at Zajac Group and all of his children and grandchildren within a 30-minute drive, Richard feels very fortunate to have his whole family so close. As a self-aware history buff with a special focus on WWII, Richard is often reading about history or traveling to historical places. You can also find him walking or studying genealogy in his spare time, but his favorite hobby is spending time with his friends and family at work and home.
